Nomination Statement
FitSense is building one of the first personal data exchanges in the health & life insurance market. It enables insurers to offer customers more personalised products & services, special rates and a better user experience - all by using data from online sources and connected devices.
Nearly 60% of consumers collect personal data through mobile apps and connected devices. Intelligently combined this data provides deep insight into people’s personal lifestyle and specific needs and wants. FitSense uses software and data science to collect and turn consumers’ existing data from online sources (social media and popular apps) and connected devices (wearables, consumer medical) into insurance-specific customer & risk profiles.
Our data platform integrates with a wide range of popular apps and devices
Our algorithms turn this data into insurance specific customer profiles
Our software takes this information straight into insurers’ online customer journey to personalize products, improve underwriting and increase engagement.
Our solution allows consumers to conveniently and securely share personal data with their insurer at point of quote, without the time and complexity of providing this information manually. It allows consumers to obtain products and special rates, not just in line with their medical and family history but individual lifestyle. And to receive services from their insurers to proactively manage their health based on the data they provide. And our solution helps insurers to make this data actionable without the cost and complexity of in-house developments by providing the IT architecture, data analytics and software as a service.
FitSense is currently offering three distinct products. The Health Engagement App is a white-label mobile app to increase retention and reduce claims. Optionally, we offer this app together with a Pay-As-You-Live insurance product by Munich Re. Secondly, our API Services: A single API allowing insurer’s mobile or web apps to be compatible with data across many mobile apps and devices. It reduces the time, cost and complexity of integrating with the universe of apps and devices independently. And thirdly, our data services at point of quote for underwriting & Pricing: It allows to identify low risk groups for diseases based on FitSense provided customer data at point of quote: Potential benefits include lower drop-outs, increased online sales, less omissions & wrong answers.
FitSense has been selected and participated in the Startupbootcamp InsurTech and TechFounders accelerator programmes in 2016. We have won the $70K MAS Global FinTech Hackcelerator in Singapore. We have pilots live with blue chip insurance companies in the UK and Poland. And we have a partnership agreement with Munich Re.
Our core team combines deep technical, operation and insurance expertise. Alvaro Gauterin (CTO) is a Software engineer with a degree in Robotics Cognition and Intelligence. Prior to FitSense he was a research engineer at the National University of Singapore where he built a data platform for medical research. Jan-Philipp Kruip (CEO) is experienced in the financial services. Prior to FitSense, he was a strategy consultant at Stern Steward & Co and a manager at commodities trading company Louis Dreyfus. Tom Samodol (COO) is an experienced commercial COO and go-to-market specialist who has scaled technology ventures successfully to exit with 17 years of experience in technology and in finance. And our key advisor Paul Stacy did it before. He is founder of IoT insurance data company Wunelli (acquired by LexisNexis).
We have built strong relationships with leading (re)insurers globally, and started collecting longitudinal data. This, in combination with the IP built through our joint work with Munich Re gives us a substantial first mover advantage that we are fiercely defending.
We believe that we should win the award because we are addressing problems that go to the core of health & life insurance, and because we have developed solutions that allows insurers to start with it today.
